Ten Thousand Villages
I remember the first package I was ever sent as a 'blogger'; I was so excited to rip through the pristine packaging. It is still the most humbling feeling when someone reaches out and trusts you enough to share their products with others. So when Ten Thousand Villages asked me to share their story, I jumped at the chance, especially because of their mission.
“We create opportunities for artisans in developing countries to earn income by bringing their products and stories to our markets through long-term, fair trading relationships.”
One of my goals for this new year is to be more responsible about the items I buy & purchasing from companies that make a difference. Not only does Ten Thousand Villages support 20,000 makers in 30 developing countries, but you can also give back by volunteering. (I recently found out that there's a TTV store in Overland Park, start happy dances...start...NOW!)
“‘Our name — Ten Thousand Villages — was inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s quote. Because in every village are people who want to live a meaningful life with dignity and who bring beautiful culture worth sharing. Multiply the village idea by ten thousand and it represents the world we’re working to build.’”
I get so excited to share these companies with you! If you guys ever have any questions for me, please feel free to leave a comment. A huge thank you to Ten Thousand Villages for sending these beautiful wooden spoons!
Happy Saturday!
