Today was really, really special. 99% of it wasn't planned; and it was awesome.
Sweet December
You guys! I have missed you all so very much. (Sorry for being the worst.
Recapping Sunday
This weekend is something I want to remember for a very long time. First Friday's in KC is such a cool reminder of all the talented makers we have here; and I'm so ridiculously happy to have seen some old faces, and finally meet some new ones.
Happiness Delivered
I absolutely love gift giving, and most times I can't wait until the actual date to give the gift because I'm THAT excited about it.
Gift Guide for Her
Hello friends! With December right around the corner, I've been wanting to do a gift guide for the special ladies in our lives.
Pop Some Tags; Cause We're Gettin' Thrifty
I don't know about you, but the second the temperatures drop I instantly go into fall frenzy.
Let's Go For A Walk
I'm on the last leg of vacation, and am currently in Pullman Washington visiting my brother and his family. The trip was 10 days, and it was incredible to visit a few places I had never seen before
Sleepless in Seattle
Weeks before heading out West, I had sat down and googled all things Seattle.
14,000 Things To Be Happy About
It's 11 p.m., and instead of sleeping soundly, I am wide awake thinking about all things life . You know the feeling; you try to map out your entire future in one night, at the latest possible hour of course. This is definitely a regular occurrence for me; but tonight is a little different, because I have 14,000 reasons to let every worry go. For now at least 😉
Lately I've been struggling with some things. I won't go into detail, but I wasn't focusing on the big picture. By accident, I was scrolling through Instagram and found this book, '14,000 things to be happy about.' Without hesitation, I ordered this gem off Amazon for a wild $4, and it's hands down the best investment I've made in a long time.
I forget how blessed I am in my moments of weakness; and how little it takes to be happy. Some days it's just a smile, or a lick from your pup, maybe just a phone call from a friend. But that ONE tiny thing is enough. That's why this book is so special to me, it's 14,000 tiny things that remind me just how important and easy it is to be happy.
"A stream-of-consciousness list: pajamas at breakfast, seeing the moon rise, a lake catching the last flecks of sunlight coming in over the pines, the position of your head as you bite into a taco." ✨
Don't forget in all the hustle and bustle to rejoice in the little things too. 💘 Happy Wednesday friends!
Madewell MO
I have one word for Tuesday night's festivities: magical.
I got word of Madewell opening on the plaza a few months ago, with an email asking if I would be interested in co-hosting, (It never really sunk in that this was real life. Trust me, I pinched myself multiple times. The event has come and gone, and it still feels like a dream). Of course I was onboard with this proposal within seconds of reading the email, and I cannot say enough positive things about this event, company, and the process leading up to it.
When I first walked in, I was greeted so warmly by Caitlyn and her staff. Shortly after I was told to pull my favorite garments and hang them on my own personal rack, with Little Fixation on it. (SAY WHHHHAT?!)
Note: Again, had to pinch myself to make sure all was real.
Julep KC was there sharing a couple cocktails, (both were wonderful. I had to taste them for the blog, right?), and beautiful food was prepared and passed out for the duration of the event.
For two straight hours, the store was packed with high energy! New friends and old, free totes and a DJ, it's impossible to put a finger on my favorite part. I even purchased a pouch for an upcoming trip that had a taco drawn on it, with "Taco Taco Taco!" next to it. So you know the night had to be a good one.
The store is not only beautiful, (They have a neon sign above their denim bar... Can I lease a cubby under a table? I won't take up much room, promise), but the staff; I cannot say enough how incredibly friendly and warm they were. There's nothing like being on cloud 9 with an opportunity like this, and everyone just being so great along the way. It's something that will stay with me for a very, very long time.
If you were at the event and snapped any photos, you can share them using the hashtag #MadewellMo. (So fun being able to see other people's perspectives at an event like this!)
Lastly; THANK YOU GUYS! You have all played such an intricate part in getting Little Fixations to where it is right now. This event was so special to me, (a few of you even came up to me and said "We love your Instagram & blog!" I may have freaked out a little. That will stay with me forever!) Every single one of you is helping me live out my dreams daily, and for that, there will never be enough thank you's.
(Day after the event, I was right back in these overalls. I could live in this if you'd let me....I think it's best for all if I don't).
Normal Human
Monday mornings aren't so bad when you get to hang out at Normal Human. 🙌🏻 Located in Westport, this KC shop has some pretty incredible hand printed pieces, (all of which are made from original designs). Pat Eggert & Dan Mahaney started this shop in 2012, and have grown to become a locally loved brand by many.
Today, Dan was printing a shirt for Boulevard Brewing Co. This version of our Unfiltered Wheat tee is a special one, because the guys had creative freedom to design their own look and feel of the tee. It's also become a fan favorite among guests at the brewery.
It's such a special thing to be able to go behind the scenes, and experience the process and love that go in to each one of these tees. (Dan also shared that he typically gets through 60 tees in one hour, talk about efficient! I think he deserves a few Unfiltered Wheat's himself after that power hour).
You can follow their adventures and see more products on their Instagram account!
Cheers to Dan, Pat and the rest of the Normal Human crew! May you continue to grow and spread your craft further throughout KC. (and...because... your onesie game is too strong for you to go anywhere anytime soon).
Survival Letterpress
One of the highlights of writing a blog is getting to share with others about wonderful companies. But the biggest blessing? Sharing about wonderful companies that are started by incredible humans. This is true of Survival Letterpress in Kansas City, and I could not be more thankful that our paths crossed the way they did.
Joey & Amanda Gross started Survial Letterpress in 2014, after years of chasing dreams to start their own letterpress and design studio, (they started in an apartment in college, then moved on to garages and basements. And now, this well deserving duo has a space at Bonfire Space in Mission).
I was introduced to these guys through a mutual friend, (they had done some design work for them, along with business cards), and the feel was exactly what I had been searching for. I came to them with a vision for a new logo for Little Fixations, but not knowing exactly what that was. Meeting up with Joey for the first time, getting to chat with him about my hopes for the site, I knew my blog was in the right hands.
Amanda then came up with the concept with the Little Fixations logo, (that beauty can be found on the top of this page). It was better than I could have ever imagined. Shortly after, I discussed the idea of business cards for an event I had coming up. These guys are so gracious, and gifted me with the most beautiful design work I've seen in a long time, (I may be biased and all... But I couldn't stop looking at them for a solid 10 minutes after I picked them up).
I highly highly recommend using these guys for any print work you need done! From wedding invites to business cards and posters, their work is something special.
Amanda and Joey, thank you for chasing after what you love and making a wonderful business out of it. You guys are such an inspiration.
Check out more of their amazing designs and behind the scenes work on their Instagram!
